Prem Kumar lays the foundation for “International Detective Agency” (IDA) in Delhi.


The company is rechristened Globe Detective Agency (Pvt.) Ltd. (GDA)

1966 – 1969

Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai operations begin.

1970 – 1973

GDA opens 4 more branches: Bengaluru, Mysore, Hyderabad, and Coimbatore.

1975 – 1979

GDA opens additional branches in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Pune and Visakhapatnam (Vizag).


The second generation of the family enters the business. Prem’s son, Vivek, begins participating in field investigations with senior detectives at the age of seventeen.

1981 – 1985

GDA opens branches in Madurai, Tirupur, Puducherry, and Lucknow.

1983 – 1985

Given the Chairman’s foresight, GDA establishes Globe Electronics to manufacture electronic security and fire safety systems. The state-of-the-art factory is located in Bommasandra Industrial Area, Bangalore, with its own R&D wing, production shop, quality assurance, and machine shop.


The Chairman’s second son, Sachit, joins Globe Detective Agency after completing his Masters in Business Administration from the Strathclyde Business School in Glasgow, Scotland.

1992 – 1993

GDA goes international. An office is set up in Kathmandu, Nepal, where it wins the contract to install and manage fire alarm systems at the Kathmandu International Airport.


Prem’s youngest son, Puneet, joins GDA after graduating with a Master’s in Business Administration from the Cardiff Business School in Cardiff, Wales.

1996 – 2000

GDA continues to expand across India.


Prem Kumar, unexpectedly passes away. GDA appoints his wife, Santosh Kumar as Chairperson. The mantle of the company falls on his three sons.

2004 – 2005

GDA opens training centers in Chennai (Globe Institute of Investigation & Security Management) and Vadodara (Globe Academy of Security & Investigation).


GDA expands in the Asia-Pacific region by creating a joint venture with Singapore-based Mainguard International (S) Pte. Ltd. The alliance gives rise to “Globe Mainguard Alliance Pte. Ltd,” headquartered in Singapore, with an expansive global network.


The organisation completes 50 years of service to India and its citizens.

As a mark of respect, GDA institutes the Prem Kumar Award for the Investigator of the Year. The trophy is donated to the Central Association of Private Security Industry (CAPSI) and Association of Private Detectives & Investigators (APDI).

The third generation of the family, Prem Kumar’s grandson Gautam joins GDA after working in finance.


Gautam Kumar introduces a new vertical of verifying insurance claims for reputed international insurance organisations offering workman’s compensation to workers deputed to active war zones.


Sachit Kumar is elected President of the Council of International Investigators (CII) at the AGM in New Delhi, thereby expanding GDA’s international reach, presence, and reputation.


Sachit Kumar, in a historic first, is re-elected President of the CII at the AGM in Gothenburg, Sweden.


The Globe Institute of Investigation and Security Management (TGIISM) is registered as a Trust under the Globe Detective Educational Trust.


Puneet and Gautam become CII certified International investigators.

Prem Kumar’s granddaughter Arushi joins GDA after working as a researcher in international security and law.
